Comment on Being neutral by CMK

Neutrality in the post war period in Europe looks less and less ‘neutral’ the more you look at it. With Austria and Switzerland massive arms manufacturers for NATO and Sweden a sort of outsourced NATO member: particularly how it managed to develop an enormous cutting edge jet fighter force during the Cold War. It couldn’t have been done without US assistance and the US wasn’t assisting the Swedes, and covering off the North West flank of the Soviet Union, for nothing. Ireland has probably been the only really ‘neutral’ European state in that period, something which is a function entirely of our strategic irrelevance and geographic position. And, of course, our elites integration in to the British ruling class.
