Dermot Looney reaction to budget 2014:
In conclusion, Mayor Dermot Looney recommended the budget to the Elected Members, commenting that “this is a fair and progressive budget that protects frontline services, defends the more vulnerable members of society whilst at the same time expanding supports for local businesses and job creation”
5.6% budget cut is ‘fair and progressive’! And this guy is on the Labour ‘left’?
Can someone explain to me what the difference is between supporting cuts a local level and opposing them at national level?
If the guy had any honour he’d face the electorate as a Labour member and take his punishment.
This kind of stupidity is par for the course for the mainstream parties and they have the cheek to moan and whine about the abuse they’re getting on the doorsteps.
Every SDCC budget has probably been cut since 2009 and he’s probably voted for everyone of them this kind of hypocrisy deserves nothing but contempt and particularly coming from someone making a great play of his ‘Left’ credentials.
