Well, the first paragraph is deliberately mocking the ethnocentric viewpoint of Americans of ‘Irish’ descent as displayed by Niall O’Dowd and his commentators in the article I linked to. Though I must admit that it was only in reply to your comment because of the dovetail with the castigation of Di Blasio.*
