EWI, why would ICTU want to get rid of FEMPI? It’s quite literally the best thing since sliced bread for the Union leadership. They’ll make a some half-hearted comments about repealing it but they won’t do anything. I had the dubious pleasure of trying to get an emergency motion passed at a Union meeting being chaired by Jack O’Connor urging a strong statement against FEMPI, then going through the Dáil. Incredibly, it was voted down by so-called ‘trade unionists’!
