Just as an example. I’m no unquestioning booster of the Cubans. I’d have serious problems about the gerentocracy, lack of democracy, etc, but Jesus, their efforts in Africa were honourable. And necessary. And helped tip over the SA regime. As did so many.
Also I’d cut Mandela a bit of slack. The man was 72 when he came out of prison. If any of us at that point have the energy to take up the issues he had to… well… we’ll see.
