‘The Phoenix’ ran a piece on Holmes in this week’s edition. Labour, erstwhile representatives of working people, are running a candidate who is, to all intents and purposes, a businessman. Indeed, locally he’s bigging up his ‘job creation’ record (7, in cafes). Between Holmes and Hannigan you’re as far removed from a workers party as it is possible to get. Indeed, Hannigan is a business consultant and remunerated director on two companies. Hopefully Seamus McDonagh will make an impact because we badly need more workers in the Dail and, crucially, more workers standing as candidates.
